David Weir – Blue Train

David standing proudly with his wife Bronwyn on Charlotte's first day of school.
What do you do?
I sing and play the sax in the Sydney based band 'Blue Train'.
Which is the best gig you have performed at?
Performing at the Opera House with the Jacki Orszarcsky budget orchestra featuring Renee Geyer.
What is the weirdest thing that has happened to you while performing?
Saw two people getting a little too amorous right next to the stage at 2.30am when playing with the band at round Midnight in Kings Cross.
What is your favourite song?
It changes all the time but I love 'Skin it Back' by Little Feat at the moment. I am always listening to Miles Davis 'Kind of Blue' and Donny Hathaway's 'Everything is everything'.
What were doing last Saturday night?
Playing at Crystal Bar in the GPO for Burlesque show with a DJ then went off to the Basement to play in the house band with Leanne Paris Band - technically it was Sunday morning as we started at 1.30am!
Who would you like to perform with and why?
Beyonce or Maceo Parker! He is my funky God on sax - it's great to hang with your musical mentors.
What is your most memorable moment?
The birth of both of my children.
What makes you laugh?
Complete absurdity, Ribald jokes, other people laughing, my kids making mischief.
What is your favourite film?
Borat! (sorry).
What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?
I love hanging with my family and practising singing and playing the sax. both things I love and do not get enough to do enough of.
How long have you been performing for?
All my life! I am getting too old to answer that - ok 25 years!
What are passionate about?
All the people in the world's right to happiness and a 'fair go'. Being a dad and singing with my band.
