About Cello DivaCello Diva, aka Sally Maer, has an affinity with the passionate and emotive music she plays. From Bach to Bon Jovi, Cello Diva performances encompass a diversity of exquisite music, stories, and chat.Sally Maer began playing the cello at the age of five, being accepted into London's Royal Academy of Music Junior School just three years later.At the Royal Academy proper she completed an honours degree and cemented her skills as a performer in various orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as her own extra-curricular program of band and busking gigs.
Since moving to Australia in the 1990s, Sally has performed with the West Australian Symphony, the Sydney Symphony and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestras and several chamber ensembles including the Peter Sculthorpe Quartet who she traveled to Galliopli with in 2005 for a performance at The Dawn Service on Anzac Day. Sally has worked with artists such as Delta Goodrem, Grinspoon and John Farnham, and has also had experience as a busker at, among other locations, the Fremantle Markets in Western Australia where she met fellow busker John Butler.Now residing in Sydney, Sally has realised a long-held dream to release an album of music she feels audiences will connect with as much as she does. Cello Diva's Bed of Roses is the result of a life led with eyes wide open and a heart full of music.
